Virginia Real Estate Licensing Requirements

Governing Body: Real Estate Board (Department of Professional and Occupational Regulation (www.dpor.virginia.gov/dporweb/reb_main.cfm)
Salesperson license requirements:
- Successful completion of an approved 60 hour prelicense course
- Successful completion of licensing exam
Additional Brokers License Requirements:
The following is a list of additional requirements for obtaining your Broker’s real estate license in the state of Virginia.
- Successful completion of an approved 180 hour prelicense course
- Must have held an active real estate salesperson license in Virginia for at least 36 months of the 48 month period immediately preceding the date of application.
- Pass the Virginia broker licensing exam
Reciprocal License:
- Complete a 60 hour course in Virginia real estate law and pass the corresponding Virginia portion of the licensing examination
