California Real Estate License Requirements

Governing Body: California Department of Real Estate (www.dre.ca.gov)

Salesperson Licensing Requirements:

  • U.S. citizen, permanent resident alien or legally present in the U.S
  • 18+ Years of age
  • Conviction of a felony or a crime may result in denial of license
  • Successful completion of 3 approved college-level real estate courses
  • Pass California real estate salesperson licensing exam

Exam fee – $60.00

Application and License Fee – $245.00

Additional Broker Licensing Requirements:

The following is a list of additional requirements for obtaining your Broker’s real estate license in the state of California.

  • Minimum of two years full-time licensed salesperson experience within the last five years or the equivalent
  • Successful completion of 8 approved college level courses

Exam fee – $95.00

Application and License Fee: $300.00
